When a book is turned into a movie, many readers feel excited and worried at the same time, wondering if their favorite piece of literature will be given justice. But, the movies listed here are some of the best book-to-movie adaptations. Though they’re not exactly the same as the book, the story is still there.
Pride and Prejudice
This series from BBC TV will always be my favorite. The new movie, starring Keira Knightley, is also great. I think her role as Lizzie is perfect.
Jane Eyre
I consider Michael Fassbender as Mr. Rochester. This intense but slow-burn book was beautifully adapted to the big screen.
Lord of the Rings
This trilogy is epic. The movie shows all the characters and scenes from the books well.
Gone With the Wind
The movie has the same length as the book. But Vivian Leigh made it worthwhile because of her great performance. The movie is a classic because of the characters, costumes, and sets.
The Shawshank Redemption
Many people like this movie, and you’ve likely read many quotes from it. However, most of them don’t know that the movie was inspired by a short story written by Stephen King.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
Netflix produced the first book of this trilogy, and I can say that I’m happy with how it was shown. It perfectly depicted the drama and emotions of the teenage lead character in the book.
Me Before You
The chemistry and performance of the actors are what I love most about this movie. They were able to let me feel the inspiration and heartbreak I felt from the book.
